Sheet Metal Worker – Memphis‑Shelby County Schools
Perform skilled sheet metal fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair work on district properties. This includes reading and interpreting blueprints, estimating materials and labor, and installing sheet metal in duct work, gutter systems, kitchen facilities, HVAC systems, and other physical plant components.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, four years of related experience, a journeyman sheet metal certification, and a valid driver’s license. The worker may drive and operate trucks and other vehicles, and must use hand and power tools as necessary.
Responsibilities
Perform skilled sheet metal fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair work to support maintenance of district facilities.
Read and interpret blueprints and other drawings; assist in estimating and planning project materials, costs, and labor requirements.
Install and/or assist in the installation of sheet metal in duct work, gutter systems, kitchen facilities, HVAC systems, and other physical plant components.
Drive and operate trucks and other vehicles; operate various hand and power tools as necessary to accomplish tasks.
