Job Description Title:
Press Operator
Reports to:
Production Manager
Summary:
Operates Gravure Printing Press to produce “Best In Class” packaging for domestic and international use.
Responsibilities
Operate press, troubleshoot and monitor press operation.
Perform make‑ready tasks including mixing inks and solvents, replenishing supplies and adjusting press settings to produce high‑quality product.
Check viscosity, refill solvent and ink containers, fill auto‑viscosity containers and ensure correct ink viscosity.
Clear jams, maintain speed and quality while processing product.
Unload and load printing carriages and rotary tools.
Inspect finished cartons for color, register, cutting, creasing and defect‑free quality.
Ensure all checklists are completed and job accuracy is maintained.
Adhere to EHS and Clean policies, maintain safe and clean work environment, use appropriate PPE and tackle hazardous material handling.
Communicate accurately with team members, accept feedback and promote respectful collaboration.
Lead and motivate crew to improve quantity and quality, provide training and conduct team meetings as needed.
Perform any additional work requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads or Management.
Requirements
High School diploma (or GED) and minimum of 3 years press operation experience with Gravure printing and troubleshooting.
Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic computer skills and mathematical skills to compute percentages, weights and measures.
Physical Demands Requires prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending, reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, frequent lifting in excess of 60 lbs, manual dexterity, close and distance vision, color vision, and ability to rotate shifts. Must be available to work >8 hours per day and/or >40 hours per week when required.
