Overview This full-time Other Personal Services (OPS) position is based out of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network (FYCCN). The FWC is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual to work as part of the Summer Camp team at the Everglades Youth Conservation Center (EYCC) in West Palm Beach. EYCC is a residential summer camp and sees as many as 800 participants throughout the summer. The incumbent will oversee the health and wellness of staff and campers. Each week, EYCC hosts approximately 40 staff members and 96 campers.

As part of FYCCN, the incumbent communicates with stakeholders, constituents, and partners and performs functions with a strong understanding of FYCCN’s mission, future goals, and practices. Conveys FYCCN’s vision through effective programming, training, and outreach at the EYCC.

Experience

Clear and active RN license status verified by the Florida Department of Health.

At least two months of experience as a summer camp RN.

At least two months of experience in pediatrics.

Current Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification is preferred but not required.

Description of Duties Health and Wellness Oversight

Provide routine health care.

Administer prescribed medications and approved over-the-counter medications.

Oversee emergency treatment as needed: contact EMS, perform CPR, operate an AED, or administer emergency medication such as an Epi‑pen.

Health and Wellness Policies and Procedures

Complete required training related to ACA standards and be familiar with all policies regarding camper safety, risk management, and reporting.

Review EYCC’s healthcare policies and procedures.

Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential documentation (Microsoft Excel proficiency required).

Prepare weekly camper healthcare records and maintain camp health log.

Attend staff meetings, complete required reports, and attend professional development as assigned.

Facility Operations Assistance

Assist with janitorial cleaning of the Health Center weekly.

Assist with weekly camper check‑in and check‑out; ensure medications are checked out and provide a copy of the camper’s health record if routine medical care at camp.

Maintain stock of health center supplies.

Stakeholder Communication

Provide a welcoming experience and positive guest service to visitors through program interactions.

Contact parents via phone or email to provide updates on camper’s health and wellness and gather health history as needed.

Maintain effective working relationships; work independently, take initiative, and solve problems creatively.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to perform adult and pediatric First Aid, CPR, and operate an AED.

Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related software.

Ability to write reports and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Team‑player, work collaboratively with stakeholders, partners, and government agencies.

Independently solve problems and plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

Lift up to 55 lbs; travel, enter and exit a vehicle, and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Position Requirements

Successful completion of all position specific training and certifications before the first week of June (Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, AED, Human Resource Orientation, Behavior Management, Supervision, and Emergency Procedures).

RN may be required to transport staff or campers in an extreme emergency and must have a valid driver’s license with no moving violations within the past two years.

Employment contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint‑based).

Requires work time in the evenings and on weekends.

Applicants must be 19 years of age before May 18, 2026.
