Main Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
Perform dental radiographs (x‑rays) and scans
Document baseline patient information
Prepare and sterilize instruments, equipment, and patient rooms
Provide exceptional patient care throughout their visit
Take impressions of patients' teeth
Communicate effectively and efficiently
Maintain a “team first” and “patient first” mentality
Continuously increase knowledge and job skills
Adhere to State, Federal, and local compliance standards including OSHA, HIPAA, and the Texas Dental Board
Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures
Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health
Perform various studio tasks that often require the use of a computer
Perform duties in accordance with practice policies
Review the schedule throughout the day
Ensure the back studio is running smoothly
Keep track of inventory and place orders when supplies are low
Work closely with the studio manager
Troubleshoot equipment problems and contact the tech team to fix any issues
Provide additional support and training when needed to the back studio staff
Skills and Abilities
Fluent in English; verbal and written
Familiarity with dental terminology
Basic computer skills
Willingness to cover shifts at locations not typically assigned
Ability to travel to other locations as needed
Strong interpersonal skills
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Certificate of Completion from a Dental Assisting Course (required)
Texas Registered Dental Assistant License (required)
CPR and/or BLS certification (required)
1+ years of experience as a lead RDA or similar experience (required)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
May be required to sit or stand for long periods
Might work more than 40 hours per week
Clinical studio environment which can be noisy and distracting
Exposure to infectious diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens
Handling sharp objects
Exposure to harmful chemicals and/or gases
Communication with others to exchange information
Repetitive motions that include wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Operation of machinery and/or power tools
Assessment of the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds
