Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, you will inspect incoming parts and supplies, perform first article, in-process, and final inspection, and handle the inspection of setups and fixtures. You will maintain or schedule maintenance of testing tools and monitor inspection schedules, ensuring compliance with inspection requirements. Your role involves reading and analyzing blueprints, quality documents, and manuals, verifying measurements and other specifications to plans, and applying a basic knowledge of mechanical systems. This is a hands‑on position using a variety of mechanical inspection tools.

Responsibilities

Inspect first articles, in-process parts, and products prior to shipment using gauges, coordinate measuring machine, optical comparators, and vision.

Generate spreadsheets for data collection.

Generate first article inspection reports.

Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.

Test incoming raw materials.

Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to perform detailed inspection of parts produced.

Read instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts being machined.

Wear proper safety equipment and comply with company safety rules at all times.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in inspection, mechanical systems, and quality control.

Ability to troubleshoot and perform quality assurance.

Experience with assembly, quality inspection, and mechanical inspection.

Skill in using hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment.

Blueprint reading, wiring, and power tool familiarity.

Mechanical and technical capacity.

Strong organizational, problem‑solving, analytical, and time‑management skills.

Initiative and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput environment.

Mathematical skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Blueprint analysis, mechanical system knowledge, critical thinking, and tool familiarity.

Excellent communication skills to convey detailed instructions to machine operators and communicate with customers and engineers.

Experience with IPC 610, IPC 620, wire harness inspection, high‑rate manufacturing, quantitative inspection, data entry, AS 9100, and open plate inspection.

Work Environment Work onsite at a new facility with a start time of 6:55 AM for team meetings. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Enjoy a collaborative atmosphere where safety is a top priority.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 – $30.00/hr.
