General Responsibility Under limited supervision, perform specialized trade and maintenance activities at Division facilities. Manage and prioritize work requests. Coordinate and supervise custodial services for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division as well as maintaining specific areas designated to be security sensitive.

Specific Duties

Perform maintenance at all SLED facilities to ensure that all employees have a safe and secure working environment. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.

Supervise outside vendors to ensure work is performed correctly and within budget.

Ensure that all required safety/preventative maintenance activities are performed properly and in a timely manner.

Assist in energy management of all Division facilities.

Assist the Maintenance Director in preparing an annual budget for the next fiscal year.

Qualifications

A high school diploma and at least five (5) years of professional experience in commercial property maintenance and construction is required.

Must possess journey level skills in electrical, plumbing, as well as advanced level skills and certifications in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance.

Must possess basic computer skills including using Microsoft Office products and basic internet skills.

Must be able to keep accurate written records and communicate effectively.

Must be able to maintain accurate reports to prepare budget estimates based on anticipated needs for equipment, materials, and supplies.

Ability to use tools of individual trades is required.

Must be able to plan, direct, and review work of subordinates, supervise outside vendors, and be able to train and evaluate subordinates.

Position requires the ability to read blueprints and plan specifications.

Position may require irregular work hours and some weekends.

Position is located at a SLED HQ and requires travel to other SLED facilities.
