We are looking for a Manufacturing & Operations Planner This role schedules and coordinates the flow of work within or between manufacturing departments to expedite production. The planner reviews the master production schedule, sets priorities for specific customer orders, and revises schedules according to work‑order specifications, established priorities, and the availability or capability of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment. The planner works independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure timely production of high‑quality finished goods.
Generate new ideas and provide enhancements to improve processes.
Create a production plan based on the master schedule for the production lines; balance the plan according to internal capacities and constraints.
Update production orders to reflect changes in BOMs.
Expedite and assign priorities to production orders in ERP/AS400, cascading priorities to the internal material supply chain.
Champion cleaning material backflush issues at the close of work orders and drive accountability from production and engineering to prevent recurrence.
Provide information to the master scheduler and planning supervisor about production‑order and expedite status for effective communication to internal and external customers.
Coordinate reschedules of production orders based on material availability.
Process and track material rejects for internal suppliers; evaluate and process scrap. Shift gears quickly to meet changing business requirements.
Maintain a solid working knowledge of BOMs, routings, and operations.
Apply strong technical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Assist operations in developing and executing production schedules consistent with the company’s building and shipping schedule.
Leverage the internal ERP system (AS400) to schedule production lines efficiently and effectively, ensuring the flow of materials throughout the plant.
Review inventory levels and customer orders for the company’s distribution network; recommend system adjustments to achieve high levels of internal customer service while maintaining low inventory.
Communicate with internal and external customers, partners, and vendors to execute daily production line and raw‑material movement activities.
Identify parts used on the assigned product line and verify placement location on the product itself; utilize work‑order information.
Use modeling data and obtain collaborative feedback to perform optimization simulations and recovery scheduling.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
Understand procedures for ordering supplies used in the work area.
Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on the individual product line or work cell, and know specific types of clothing allowed and not allowed at work.
Basic Qualifications
HS Diploma
3+ years of materials and logistics/planning experience in a demanding complex manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
Desired Skills
Knowledge of planning systems and understanding of materials movement and utilization on the production floor
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with great attention to detail
Results‑oriented with a desire for continuous improvement
Full proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Ability to develop cross‑functional relationships and interact effectively in a team environment
Physical Requirements
May be required to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling.
Must be able to lift with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs).
