The Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager and manages daily operations including route supervision, staff & operator supervision, effective communication with internal and external customers, coaching employees for optimal performance, managing the entire operation in the absence of the General Manager, complying with all Company policies, and staying within the budgetary plan for the location based in Columbia, SC supporting Richland County.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate fleet vehicle repairs and maintenance.
Manage staff members in the repair, preventive maintenance, and servicing of heavy trucks, light vehicles, and equipment.
Manage maintenance personnel including recommending discipline.
Monitor technician performance in a manner consistent with company/location policy.
Ensure that all mechanics have the proper licenses and certifications including yard permits.
Manage and inspect major, minor, and vendor repairs.
Provide technical assistance and on-the-job training to mechanics.
Develop work orders and evaluate all repairs performed by technicians and outside vendors.
Assist to ensure DOT compliance and inspections of revenue and service equipment.
Perform other duties to ensure efficient operation of the maintenance facility.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
3 or more years of relevant transit supervisory experience required
Thorough knowledge of transit system regulations and operations.
Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant database programs.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively with labor; may include labor grievances and negotiations.
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to work 80% indoors and 20% outdoors.
Drug-free Workplace
Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
