Save Job

Job Overview We’re seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Assistant Editor & Post-Production Coordinator to own the operational side of post-production—ingesting, organizing, maintaining, and safeguarding the footage, files, and workflows that keep our creative machine running.

This person will support contract editors and internal team members by preparing projects for edit, maintaining our file architecture, and ensuring footage and data are handled responsibly through the entire production lifecycle—from shoot prep to long-term archive. You should thrive on process, order, and efficiency, and enjoy making creative teams' lives easier by keeping things organized, documented, and accessible.

This is not a creative editing role. While basic editing skills are helpful and will be a part of your role, your focus will be on media operations, data structure, and workflow implementation—the kind of work that ensures footage doesn’t get lost, drives don’t get corrupted, and the creative process can flow smoothly.

Key Responsibilities Post-Production Workflow & Project Support (40%)

Ingest and organize footage from shoots according to naming conventions and file structure guidelines

Set up project files for editors (sync, transcode, proxy creation if needed) and prep timelines

Prepare timecoded and/or captioned stringouts

Maintain organized folder structures, drive naming protocols, and version control across projects

Coordinate delivery and export processes with editors and producers

Data Management & Archiving (30%)

Prep hard drives for shoots and ensure all gear is ready for DIT or media wrangling

Manage post-shoot ingest, transfer, backups, and archiving processes

Ensure backups are completed and verified before drives are wiped or reused

Coordinate data handoffs to clients or archive servers

Monitor server health and storage thresholds; proactively elevate issues or propose cleanup plans

Post-Production Systems & Technical Oversight (20%)

Troubleshoot file issues, codec problems, offline media, and other technical post issues

Maintain knowledge of editing system workflows (Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Frame.io, etc.)

Identify bottlenecks in the media management process and propose improvements

Collaborate on refining or documenting SOPs for file management, archive, and delivery

Administrative & Production Support (10%)

Track post-project data (project file location, media usage, archive status)

Support team by auditing projects regularly to determine storage and drive needs

Help manage metadata and file logs for footage, client deliverables, and assets

Qualifications & Skills

1–3 years of experience in post-production or assistant editor role

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and media file formats; basic After Effects knowledge is a plus

Working knowledge of media storage systems, backups, proxies, file transcodes, etc.

Familiar with Vimeo, Frame.io, Media Encoder, and collaborative editing workflows

Excellent organization and digital habits

Process-driven thinker who can work independently and document their systems

Strong communication and follow-through when coordinating with producers, editors, and tech teams

Bonus: A true tech nerd who finds joy in well-named folders and optimized hard drives

Nice to Have

Experience working with SAN/NAS server environments

Exposure to archiving workflows or digital asset management systems

Familiarity with project management and tracking tools (like Slack, Trello, Monday.com)

Previous work in a production or post house environment

Knowledge of cameras and experience shooting or being on set
