This position involves work direction, coordination and oversight of a crew of 2‑8 employees or subcontractors. Responsibilities include overall safety, material management, reporting, customer coordination, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measurement across various operations such as Trench & Plow, Aerial, Drilling/Bore, Asphalt, and Conduit. The role requires machine operation, frequent interface with customer and city inspectors, coordination of pre‑construction meetings, maintenance of safety and production records, creation of as‑built reports, and leadership of all crews. The ideal candidate is also a skilled excavation operator and assists with permits, site safety, and calling locates.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensure successful installation of fiber/telecom cables, materials, or support structures in accordance with relevant codes, regulations, and customer requirements.
Safely operate equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and excavators.
Maintain safe work areas and smooth traffic flow on site.
Work safely at heights using climbing hooks and ladders.
Handle hand tools and power tools (wrenches, drills, saws).
Provide guidance and support to crew members as needed.
Be available for short‑notice storm response trips.
Complete daily work orders and crew checks documenting productivity and safety compliance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
Be 18 years of age or older.
Authorization to work in the United States.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Valid, non‑provisional state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
CDL Class “A” driver’s license is preferred.
Pass a background check and company drug screening.
Attend and pass all required company training.
Willingness to work overtime, after‑hours, weekends, evenings, or on‑call as needed.
Availability to work nights, holidays, and overnight travel within the state as necessary.
Maintain regular and timely attendance.
Additional qualifications:
Minimum two years of experience in utility construction, telecommunications, or laborer related work.
Computer skills preferred.
Proven leadership experience in directing workflow and producing high‑quality results.
Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the job duties.
Additional skills:
Reasoning ability to interpret instructions, drawings, and solve complex problems involving employees, customers, and vendors.
Mathematical skills to compute measurements, proportions, and percentages.
Language skills to read, understand, interpret documents, write reports, and communicate effectively.
The physical duties include standing, crouching, sitting, bending, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work environment may involve moderate noise, weather extremes, dust, fumes, toxins, and the presence of moving machinery. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Pay Range : $23.00–$39.00 per hour, depending on experience.
