We are seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Full‑Time Quality Technician at Nammo Defense Systems Inc. The chosen candidate will be responsible for visual inspection and monitoring in‑house operations. In this role you will also support Quality Engineering and participate in a continuous improvement philosophy. You must be able to effectively advise management of product conformance, capability issues and provide fact‑based recommendations for improvement and problem resolution.
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Shift: 1st Shift, 6 AM–4:30 PM, Monday‑Thursday
Principle Responsibilities
Reviews prescribed specifications and standards to detect errors
Identify non‑conformances based on in‑process and final product inspections in accordance with inspection plans
Assist quality engineering in planning and conducting first‑article inspections in accordance with AS9102
Support Quality Engineering in the review and generation of manufacturing/inspection documentation
Support quality and product engineers to resolve problem issues and improve quality
Work with supplier quality to facilitate corrective and preventive action relative to supplier quality problems found at incoming inspection
Recommend updates in inspection and test techniques to improve productivity/accuracy and eliminate inconsistencies through development of standards of acceptability
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience) Quality Technician I
High School Diploma or GED required
Basic understanding of dimensioning
Training on basic skills including: Calipers, height gauges, OD/ID meters, Vernier scale, Romer arm, optical comparators, Pi tapes (supervision may be required)
Ability to identify and write non‑conformance reports with QE guidance when needed
Capability to perform program‑specific inspection plans with minimal supervision after training
Proficiency in Excel, Word, SmarTeam, Epicor, and Outlook
Quality Technician II
High School Diploma or GED required
5+ years’ relevant experience
Specialization in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or extensive experience with Romer/Faro arm CMM programming/inspection (a plus)
Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to use the following items without supervision, but may require assistance in troubleshooting: Calipers, height gauges, OD/ID meters, Vernier scale, Romer arm, optical comparators, Pi tapes
Ability to identify and write non‑conformance reports
Capability to perform program‑specific inspection plans with no supervision
Proficiency in Excel, Word, SmarTeam, Epicor, and Outlook
Able to train other Quality Technicians on selected skills and inspection plans
Quality Technician III
High School Diploma or GED required
10+ years’ relevant experience
Specialization in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or extensive experience with Romer/Faro arm CMM programming/inspection (a plus)
In‑depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Can use the following items without supervision and perform troubleshooting tasks: Calipers, height gauges, OD/ID meters, Vernier scale, Romer arm, optical comparators, Pi tapes
Ability to identify and write non‑conformance reports
Capability to perform program‑specific inspection plans with no supervision and basic troubleshooting when needed
Proficiency in Excel, Word, SmarTeam, Epicor, and Outlook
Able to train other Quality Technicians on a wide array of skills and inspection plans
Can fill in for various programs at a Tech III level
