Main Purpose of Role The primary function of this role is to support the strategic procurement team by leading various procurement project initiatives that require data analysis, supplier communication, cross‑functional collaboration, negotiation, and project management abilities.
What You’ll Do
Collect data to survey supply chain needs; this role includes Data Analytics and Procurement functions.
Interact with suppliers to collect and analyze data through the mapping process; a manual process.
Lead and manage multiple supply chain projects simultaneously, including corporate programs involving supplier risk mitigation and resilience.
Analyze supplier quotes, bids, RFQs, and RFPs and recommend the best total cost options.
Source and evaluate mechanical and electrical vendors for medical device components.
Lead contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and vendor onboarding.
Manage procurement requests, purchase orders, and vendor communications.
Track and report on project milestones, procurement timelines, and cost savings.
Support tariff mitigation strategies and identify opportunities for second sourcing.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure supplier compliance.
Maintain accurate records of sourcing decisions, contracts, and supplier performance.
Ensure alignment with medical device industry standards and internal quality systems.
Identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete all project phases: scope, charter, execution, escalation requests, post‑implementation, and closure.
Work cross‑functionally to perform risk analyses and develop mitigation strategies to improve the supply chain and ensure successful project completion.
Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking schedules, identifying risks, and executing contingency plans.
Provide support and direction to project staff on problem solving, data visualization, and development of metrics (KPIs).
Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports and participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
Resolve project issues by working with team members, stakeholders, customers, and others as appropriate.
Present complex projects or issues in a digestible format to all levels of the organization.
Interface with senior management on significant matters, often requiring coordination across organizational units.
Exercise independent judgment.
Establish priorities of individual or project assignments.
Perform other supply chain project‑related work and duties as assigned by manager.
Education and Experience You’ll Bring Required
Open to associate’s degrees and/or relevant certifications related to medical devices, manufacturing, and/or supply chain management.
2‑3 years of experience (minimum 2) as an engineer, technical project manager, procurement, supply chain, or finance professional, preferably in the medical device business or another highly regulated industry.
Communications savvy—able to simplify complex information for suppliers and teams.
Intermediate to advanced level of Excel proficiency; basic knowledge is insufficient.
Internships may substitute for some years of experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Thorough knowledge of engineering, procurement, supply chain, and related project activities and their interfaces.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental guidelines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience processing data and creating data visualizations.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Solid work ethic and ability to collaborate well with others.
Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Open‑minded, adaptive to change, promotes team interests over self‑interest, and resolves issues respectfully.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, finance, operations management, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Medical device experience preferred; experience in other regulated industries acceptable.
Prior procurement and/or analyst experience preferred.
