Glencoe Junior High Project in Glencoe, IL Stage Crew Manager for the Spring Musical: Mean Girls. The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP), a 50+ year-old nonprofit organization, is seeking a candidate to lead a 10‑12 student stage crew for its high‑quality, no‑cut production featuring 40‑50 Glencoe 6th‑8th graders. The production provides a professional‑grade experience similar to those at New Trier High School, with exciting dances, harmony, costumes, a live band, and a large proscenium‑style theater transformed with a large set and professional lights & sound.

The stipend for the position is $1,000.

Roles and Responsibilities

Train, assign and manage student crew and volunteers from initial meetings through strike.

Collaborate with the Director to develop and fulfill prop lists, create run sheets, and related tasks.

Research and purchase necessary materials with approval of Director/Producer.

Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.

Cultivate positive and collaborative relationships with the production team, students, and volunteers.

Attend production meetings as needed.

Occasionally assist the Scenic Designer during Set Build & Painting (March 30 – April 6).

Available to work on location at Glencoe’s Central School on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 3:15 – 6:00 pm, beginning mid‑March through performances (April 30 – May 3, 2026), with additional rehearsals in April.

Supervise student crew and volunteers during performances: Thursday, April 30 @ 7:00 pm; Friday, May 1 @ 7:00 pm; Saturday, May 2 @ 3:00 pm; and Sunday, May 3 @ 1:00 pm.

Help coordinate and oversee pre‑production carry‑up of materials on Thursday, March 26 and post‑production carry‑down and clean‑up on May 4 & 5.

Important Dates

Crew Meetings Begin Mid‑March: Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 3:30 – 5:45 pm (to 6:30 pm starting April 8).

Additional rehearsal: April 21. No rehearsals during March 30 – April 6 or April 23.

Carry‑up: Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm.

Tech & Dress Rehearsals: Saturday, April 25, 10 am – 3 pm (Cue to Cue 1); Sunday, April 26, 12 pm – 6 pm (Cue to Cue 2 & Dress Rehearsal 1); Monday, April 27, 3:30 pm – 8 pm (Dress Rehearsal 2); Tuesday, April 28, 3:30 pm – 8 pm (Dress Rehearsal 3); Wednesday, April 29, 3:30 pm – 8 pm (Dress Rehearsal 4).

Performances: April 30 – May 3, 2026 (Thursday @ 7 pm, Friday @ 7 pm, Saturday @ 3 pm, Sunday @ 3 pm). Call times will be approximately 2 hours prior.

Carry‑Down & Clean‑Up: May 4 & 5, 3:30 pm – 8 pm (times TBD).

Skill Requirements

Working knowledge of set construction and prop design, lighting and sound board operation, stage management/production management, and stage safety standards.

Experience working in an educational setting preferred.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent leadership and team‑building skills.

A minimum of three years’ experience in technical theater or stage management.

It offers 5th‑8th grade students opportunities to volunteer, attend social activities and events, perform on stage, and access a youth drop‑in center at Central School.
