A healthcare role is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong Med-Surg background, located in Deville, LA. This contract assignment offers the opportunity to apply critical thinking skills within a dynamic trauma, orthopedic, and medical-surgical unit. This position is ideal for nurses who excel in teamwork and enjoy a fast-paced clinical environment managing a variety of patient needs. Location: The assignment is situated in a 36-bed unit located in the main tower of a medical center, known for providing high-quality trauma and orthopedic care. The unit operates on a nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1, supported by a full team including LPNs, PCTs, and support staff. Nurses will work with advanced equipment such as IV pumps, wound vacs, telemetry monitors, chest tubes, PCA pumps, and epidurals, enhancing both patient care and clinical skills. Responsibilities: Perform wound vac changes, wound care, and IV insertions Insert indwelling Foley catheters as needed Collaborate effectively with colleagues in a team-driven environment Participate in unit and floating assignments as needed Adhere to unit policies and dress code standards Qualifications: Active Nursing License required BLS and ACLS certifications mandatory Proven Med-Surg nursing experience essential Strong critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize Excellent time management and ability to work collaboratively Schedule: Every other weekend shift required On-call shifts when unit census is low This contract role offers an excellent platform to advance clinical proficiency with diverse patient cases in a highly supported, specialized setting.
