Position Summary: As a
Self-Direction Assistant (SDA) , you will provide one-on-one support to people with developmental disabilities, helping them lead self-directed, independent, and fulfilling lives in their homes and communities. This role is critical in promoting autonomy, choice, and dignity by assisting participants with daily routines, skill development, community engagement, and personal goals.
Responsibilities: Provide direct support based on the individual’s personal goals and service plan. Assist with daily living activities including meal preparation, hygiene, and medication reminders. Support participants in accessing community resources and recreational activities. Foster skill-building in areas like budgeting, cooking, communication, and transportation. Maintain accurate documentation and data collection for services provided. Communicate effectively with families, guardians, and RGA staff. Must meet Illinois DHS qualifications for QIDP, which include: o A
bachelor’s degree
in a human services field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, etc.) o
At least one year of experience
working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance required. Must be at least 21years old. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. Patience, creativity, and a passion for helping others succeed. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred not required.
