About the role
As a Senior AWS Cloud & Kubernetes Engineer, you will make an impact by leading the design, deployment, and optimization of our AWS-based container platforms. You will have a direct impact on platform reliability, scalability, and security, enabling development teams to deliver high-performance applications efficiently. This role is ideal for hands‑on engineers passionate about cloud‑native technologies and building resilient, automated, and secure infrastructure solutions. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Infrastructure Specialist.
In this role, you will
Architect, build, and maintain containerized infrastructure using Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS CloudFormation.
Deploy and support Kubernetes workloads in AWS environments, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust infrastructure solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
Support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions to automate reliable application delivery.
Implement cloud security and compliance best practices across infrastructure and container platforms.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment workflows, and operational guides.
Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues to maintain platform stability and reliability.
Monitor system performance metrics and contribute to continuous optimization initiatives.
Share expertise and mentor junior engineers to strengthen team capabilities.
Stay current with emerging cloud and container technologies and incorporate relevant improvements.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Hartford, CT. What you need to have to be considered
5+ years of experience with AWS EKS and Kubernetes administration
Hands‑on expertise with Docker and containerized application platforms
Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions

The annual salary for this position is between $91,000 - $107,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
