We are seeking a Vice President of Accounting to join a growing multifamily property management company in Atlanta. The Vice President of Accounting will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic planning, while partnering with leadership to drive portfolio performance and growth. Ideal candidates will bring proven experience in real estate or property management, strong leadership skills, and a track record of guiding organizations through scaling and success. The VP of Accounting is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, performance, and growth of the company’s multifamily real estate portfolio. This role combines high-level strategic leadership with hands‑on financial management to ensure the company achieves its business objectives while maintaining strong fiscal discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives in the multifamily real estate sector.
Oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax, and compliance.
Partner with the other senior leaders to evaluate acquisitions, developments, dispositions, and capital projects.
Lead capital markets activities including debt financing, equity structuring, investor reporting, and lender relations.
Manage cash flow, capital allocation, and long‑term financial planning to maximize portfolio performance and returns.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Oversee preparation of financial statements, reporting packages, and performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and controls.
Build and lead a high‑performing finance and accounting team, fostering professional development and accountability.
Provide strategic insights on market trends, risk management, and business opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role within multifamily real estate, private equity, or related real estate investment sectors.
Deep knowledge of real estate finance, capital markets, and multifamily operations.
Proven experience raising capital, structuring deals, and managing investor/lender relationships.
Strong command of financial modeling, forecasting, and performance analytics.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
Track record of driving financial performance and scaling organizations.
