Saratech is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to support a confidential aerospace client engaged in the development of advanced aircraft systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with hands‑on experience performing aircraft systems safety analyses who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast‑paced development environment.
The Systems Safety Engineer will work closely with an integrated aircraft engineering team to help identify, assess, and mitigate safety risks throughout the aircraft development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Perform systems safety analyses in support of aircraft and subsystem development
Develop and maintain safety artifacts, including:
Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA / AFHA / SFHA)
Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA)
Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
Hazard tracking and mitigation documentation
Reliability and risk analyses
Review engineering data, requirements, and design artifacts to ensure safety compliance
Collaborate with system owners and integration engineers to identify hazards and influence design improvements
Support development and refinement of system safety processes, tools, and procedures
Participate in trade studies and provide safety input to key design decisions
Prepare and present technical summaries of safety findings and recommendations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
2+ years of dedicated aerospace systems safety experience
Hands‑on experience with one or more of the following safety standards:
SAE ARP-4761
SAE ARP-4754
MIL-STD-882
Direct experience developing at least some of the following:
FHA / AFHA / SFHA
FMECA
FTA
Hazard reports and mitigation plans
Familiarity with Part 23 and/or Part 25 aircraft safety requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting clean‑sheet, experimental, or advanced aircraft programs
Exposure to aircraft systems such as propulsion, structures, avionics, or flight controls
Familiarity with CATIA V5/V6/3DX or similar CAD tools
Experience working in a startup or fast‑paced development environment
Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes
