As our tax arm continues to expand, we are seeking a skilled and client-focused Tax Accountant to support our growing tax division and help build the infrastructure for an efficient, scalable tax experience.

Tax Accountant (3–5 Years Experience) Full-Time | Hybrid (Maitland, FL)

Position Overview The

Tax Accountant

will prepare and review individual and business tax returns for our financial planning clients while providing a high-touch, educational, and proactive client experience. This role blends technical tax expertise with client communication, research, and problem-solving. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering an exceptional, seamless tax experience for clients.

Key Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Review

Prepare and review individual tax returns.

Prepare and review small business returns (S-Corp, Partnership, Schedule C).

Conduct mid-year tax check-ins and prepare proformas for projected tax liabilities.

Calculate and schedule estimated tax payments.

Perform thorough fact‑checking and documentation review to ensure accuracy.

Client Experience & Communication

Serve as a primary tax contact for the firm’s in‑house financial planning clients.

Clearly communicate next steps, tax outcomes, and planning opportunities.

Record and send short explanatory videos to clients to enhance understanding.

Maintain a proactive, timely, and relationship‑focused client experience year‑round.

IRS & Compliance Support

Respond to IRS and state tax notices on behalf of clients.

Research and resolve tax issues through correspondence and documentation.

Maintain organized, compliant internal records.

Technical Skills & Research

Perform tax research to resolve issues and ensure accurate filing positions.

Stay current on evolving federal and state tax laws.

Demonstrate proficiency in Drake Tax Software by completing a simple return or proforma during the interview.

Apply analytical problem‑solving to discrepancies or unique tax questions.

Operations & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Support the development of scalable tax systems and infrastructure.

Contribute to building a cross‑sell path between advisory, planning, and tax services.

Collaborate closely with the financial planning team to deliver a seamless, integrated experience.

Assist in refining workflows for efficiency and consistency.

Qualifications

EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA designation required.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

3–5 years of tax preparation experience across individual and small business returns in Drake.

Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws.

Experience with IRS correspondence and issue resolution.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.

Research‑oriented, problem‑solving mindset.

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

Experience working in a financial planning or advisory firm.

Experience helping build internal processes or tax infrastructures.

Comfort recording short client‑facing video messages.
