General Summary As BSA AML Specialist, you report to and assist the BSA AML Operations Officer to ensure the Bank’s compliance with Federal Banking Regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act and OFAC. The BSA AML Specialist utilizes the Bank’s data systems including Yellow Hammer, BSA and JHA Teller, as well as Microsoft Office applications. The BSA AML Specialist is responsible for assisting BSA management in developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of associated compliance programs.

BSA AML Operations Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of the Bank Secrecy Act Program to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, including daily review and filing of CTRs, review and retention of the monetary instrument sale information, and review and retention of account and customer due diligence information.

Ensure compliance with the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) regulations, including daily assistance with clearing SDN list hits and periodic OFAC review of customer database.

Assist with the anti-money laundering monitoring process, including the use of BSA/AML software to review worklists and alerts, conducts ongoing customer- and enhanced-due diligence, and investigate and resolve referrals from internal staff.

Refer suspicious transactions to BSA AML Investigators for further review and provide relevant and necessary information for investigative purposes.

Compose, edit, revise, and distribute BSA procedure manuals and answer related questions for staff.

Complete all applicable internal training assignments by due date.

Attend outside training (seminars, webinars, meetings) for continuing educations and/or to represent the Bank.

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Be familiar with and comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act as they relate to the functions of this position. Complete all required reports related to those acts and reports any observed violations or potential violations of those acts to a supervisor or other appropriate bank officer.

Be familiar with and comply with all federal and state banking regulations as applicable.

Experience and/or Education

High School Diploma or GED

Associates Degree preferred

Minimum of two (2) years of Bank Operations experience

Additional formal education or practical experience with BSA and Security preferred

Willing to pursue certification in BSA and/or Security

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to work in an office environment which may include many hours of computer and telephone usage.
