Urban Montessori Charter School (UMCS) seeks an experienced, hard-working, and high-achieving Site Coordinator for our Oakland-based Montessori public charter school. We are conducting this search for the 2021-2022 school year, and we are a TK-8 school.
Urban Montessori Charter School is a child-centered, research-aligned educational model serving a diverse, public school population. The school aims to bring Montessori's methods and pedagogy into a 21st century urban learning environment that focuses on respect for child-centered inquiry, equity, innovation, and mastery of both skills and knowledge.
Role Overview The Assistant Site Coordinator provides administrative and secretarial support to the Operations team, Assistant Head of School and the Head of School and oversees day to day school reception and lunch programs.
Major Responsibilities and Duties The Assistant Site Coordinator will:
Perform general office administrative duties such as filing, copying, faxing, ordering materials/supplies.
Greets all incoming visitors for the purpose of ensuring that guests sign in/out as required and directs visitors to the appropriate destination.
Communicates with parents orally and in writing in a professional manner.
Orients new campus personnel regarding appropriate school and district practices (e.g. directions, building procedures, etc.) for the purpose of effectively assimilating new personnel into campus operations.
Oversees daily attendance and attendance reporting
Maintains accurate student records for the school.
Prepares, distributes and tracks school lunch
Administers first aid and prescription medications to students for the purpose of providing emergency or necessary care in accordance with district, state and federal Requirements.
Evaluates situations (e.g. involving other staff, students, parents, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolutions.
Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Coordinates a variety of programs and/or activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and delivering services
Maintains a variety of computerized and manual records, files, and department databases (e.g. information packets, rosters/listings, calendars, outstanding supply orders, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reliable information and complying with district, state and federal requirements.
Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Urban Montessori’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
Qualifications Education and Knowledge
High School Diploma
Office experience
Skills
Bilingual (Spanish-English) is required
Advanced computer skills, including Google Tools (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) or Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Highly developed organizational and administrative skills
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changing priorities with skill, accuracy and composure as well as an ability and willingness to understand and respond to team members’ needs, priorities and deadlines
Excellent organizational and administrative skills, including effective time management
SIS system administration (Illuminate, Aeries, Powerschool)
Ability to lift 50lbs
