Job Description This role could be based at our Kansas City, De Moines, or Blaine sites. Under the guidance of the Regional Service Director, the District Service Manager will lead a team to drive operational strategies that align with the company’s culture and long‑term goals, exceeding customer expectations. The position provides direct oversight to multiple Service Centers in the region, ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety, regulatory requirements, production, financial, and waste‑management objectives.

Leadership & Strategy

Coach, develop, and conduct performance appraisals for managers and supervisors in the district.

Make recommendations on salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and dismissals.

Support recruitment and hiring of field leadership and drivers.

Conduct regular meetings to keep teams informed of current issues, procedural changes, and new developments.

Oversee selection, training, and development of a diverse workforce.

Provide technical support and assist in deploying technical training.

Stay updated on regulations and industry developments.

Safety, Security, and Compliance

Promote safety and security initiatives across the district.

Implement, communicate, and train on safety protocols and compliance measures.

Initiate actions to resolve identified hazards or unsafe conditions.

Customer Experience Management

Support sales in implementing new accounts, presenting services, and responding to inquiries.

Collaborate with commercial to maintain customer relationships.

Drive customer satisfaction through team performance and adherence to SLAs and KPIs.

Act with urgency to resolve customer issues, maintaining service levels and growing the business.

Operational Excellence

Implement continual improvement of productivity standards and team safety.

Route Management

Manage route processes, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.

Develop efficient waste‑collection and transportation routes.

Technical Services Management

Oversee technical services management, including HHW, onsite, and lab pack programs.

Service Center Management

Manage service‑center operations, facilities, supply, and asset management.

Handle P&L management and performance to financial plans.

Maintain 10‑day management processes aligned with company goals.

Work Environment

Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time via automobile, commercial airline, and public transportation.

Regular visits to each Service Center for onsite oversight.

Hands‑on execution of key initiatives and activities.

Qualifications Education

B.S. in an environmental‑related field or equivalent work experience.

40‑hour HAZWOPER training completed and current.

Experience

Minimum 7 years in a transportation field, including use of transportation management software.

Knowledge of DOT regulations, logistics, and vehicular maintenance.

Minimum 5 years of proven leadership experience.

Strong budgetary, P&L, asset management, and project‑management skills.

Skills

Independent initiative and effective communication.

Analytical P&L and EBITDA management.

Understanding of DOT regulations.

Exceptional verbal and written communication.

Delegation and team leadership.

Advanced computer skills and software proficiency.

Data analysis and actionable improvement development.

Project‑management experience.

Change‑management methodology proficiency.

Customer interaction, SLA, and relationship management.

Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous‑improvement methods (plus).
