JOB SUMMARY:
This position is in the Fleet Performance Analysis group and is responsible for the development and implementation of state‑of‑the‑art technology strategies (including AI) and data/visualization platforms that meet current and future needs regarding performance monitoring. The position is responsible for working with key stakeholders to develop tools to enable early detection of trends and patterns to support the fleet in achieving top industry performance. The Performance Analysis Coordinator is a mentor and teacher to the Governance and Oversight organization to develop personnel to ensure a high level of data literacy and ensure that performance insights are based on data versus intuition. Additionally, this position supports the SNC corporate performance process (PPP/Operational Goals) and facilitates various other SNC/Southern Company corporate activities, including interfacing with Alabama/Georgia Regulatory Affairs organizations, responding to requests from other external business entities, and independently develops executive presentations that include performance data for SNC operating units. The incumbent is responsible for staying abreast of SNC operational activities and unit events, as well as those of Southern Company and the nuclear industry, discerning what is noteworthy, and then appropriately acting on the information.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Management discipline strongly preferred
At least 5 years of related nuclear industry experience
At least 3 years experience with data analytics
Knowledge of nuclear performance metrics is preferred
Leadership ability to guide a team on short term projects
Experience with PowerBI / Plateau / Python or similar data analysis and visualization software
Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Excellent problem solving / critical thinking skills – use of logic and reasoning
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to prioritize, plan, and execute work assignments under limited supervision
Attention to detail while juggling multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work directly with the Governance & Oversight organization to produce accurate and insightful tools to improve integrated oversight of the operating nuclear fleet across all departments and functional areas
Provides mentoring function within the fleet and site Organizational Effectiveness department to mentor, coach, train, and develop personnel to ensure a high level of data literacy and ensure that performance insights are based on data versus intuition
Participate in industry and INPO conferences to ensure SNC is adopting best practices in regard to data science and business reporting solutions
Analyze large datasets of internal and industry data to identify emerging trends and patterns, and visualize the data in a meaningful way for the organization
Support the SNC Corporate performance process (Operational goals, PPP communication, etc.)
Access nuclear industry performance data reported to INPO, WANO, NRC, and EUCG, accurately reflecting the data in various reports and presentations
Verify, analyze, and trend SNC and nuclear industry data from INPO, WANO and NRC
Maintain SNC performance data for Capability Factor, INPO Index, Average Daily Power Level charts, etc.
Develop PowerPoint presentations for executives for APC and GPC Board of Directors, SNC BOD, SoCo BOD, Nuclear Managing Board, including independently determining content
Coordinate responses to the Alabama/Georgia Public Service Commissions related to operational events
Support owner company rate case and fuel case data requests
Staying abreast of Southern Company, nuclear industry as well as overall electric industry activities
Supporting the Performance Analysis group and Organizational Effectiveness department in reviewing performance data, event reports, etc.
Develop and test new reporting or data storage/collection solutions in order to identify and monitor SNC fleet and nuclear industry performance gaps
Manage development of data analysis tools and applications for use across the SNC enterprise, including interfacing with executives and senior leaders, determining associated scope and design criteria, coordinating among stakeholders/users, and deployment of tools/applications for use by the organization
Act as Fleet Performance Analysis Manager in their absence
