At Nexsentio, the Human Resources Manager is a critical leader of our People & Culture in our Southern California Region. They are responsible for owning high-risk HR operations while serving as the primary HR Business Partner for the Southern California region. This role ensures compliance, consistency, and care across Workers’ Compensation, Leaves of Absence, Benefits administration, and regional employee support.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary HR Business Partner for the Southern California region, supporting leaders and employees across all levels.
Own Workers’ Compensation administration after investigations are completed, including claim management, return-to-work coordination, and trend analysis.
Manage all Leaves of Absence and ADA accommodations, ensuring timely, compliant communication and documentation.
Oversee Benefits administration, including enrollments, audits, broker partnership, and employee education.
Partner with leadership to reduce risk, improve compliance, and support a positive employee experience.
Act as an escalation point for complex HR issues and provide guidance aligned with company policies and employment law.
Day-to-Day
Serve as the primary HR point of contact for Southern California managers regarding attendance, performance, documentation, and policy application.
Manage Workers’ Compensation cases after investigations are completed, including claim submission, carrier communication, and follow-up.
Coordinate return-to-work, light duty, and transitional work plans with Operations and Safety.
Maintain OSHA 300/300A logs and ensure required reporting accuracy.
Administer CFRA, FMLA, PDL, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation-related leaves.
Issue required leave notices and determinations within legally required timelines.
Track leave status, extensions, and return-to-work dates.
Oversee benefits enrollments, terminations, and qualifying life events.
Conduct regular benefits audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Partner with the Employee Experience HRBP on investigations, escalations, and corrective action planning.
Conduct regular site visits to support leaders and employees in the field.
Participate in regional meetings to ensure alignment on HR priorities and operational needs.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in compliance with legal requirements.
Stay current on California employment laws and ensure consistent application across the region.
Qualifications
3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Direct experience managing Workers’ Compensation, Leaves of Absence, and Benefits administration.
Strong working knowledge of California employment law.
Experience supporting hourly, field-based, or operations-driven workforces.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Bilingual English/Spanish required to meet the needs of our employee population.
Able to commute to Local Office in Ontario, Ca.
Preferred Education, Certifications, or Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.Experience in facilities services, janitorial, construction, or blue‑collar industries preferred.
Experience using HRIS systems such as Paylocity, Google Workspace, and collaboration tools.
Physical Demands
Occasional travel by car or plane for business needs.
Extended periods of technology use (computer, phone, etc.)
Ability to walk around operational facilities and stand for extended periods.
Ability to sit or stand at a desk for prolonged periods as part of daily tasks.
Ability to travel to remote client locations as needed, with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
The annual base salary for an at‑will 40‑hour, exempt Human Resources Manager in the facilities services industry typically ranges from $74,078 and $87,855, depending on experience and qualifications.
