Systems Engineer II-III (Full-Time, On-Site)

S3I is currently looking for a senior or principal Systems Engineer. You will be supporting a new DoD operational capability. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent years of experience, in Engineering or other technical fields such as Computer Science, Computer Hardware, Mathematics, or Physics. This work requires a DOD Secret clearance. Candidates must meet the criteria to obtain one.
Job Title Senior or Principal Systems Engineer (II/III)
Work Schedule M-F, 8AM-5PM, Flexible
Job Classification Exempt
Primary Location California, MD
Salary Range $115,000 to $300,000 depending on experience and skillset
Ideal Candidate
Strong computer hardware and software troubleshooting experience using the Linux command line
Experience building operational Linux computer systems in a secured defense environment
The ability to reverse engineer complex systems to aid in testing and diagnostics
Familiarity with both DoD and DCSA cybersecurity practices
General understanding of DoD sensor systems including EO/IR and RADAR
Familiarity with the mission system on one or more DoD platforms
Experience with cloud platforms, including DoD IL5 environments and higher
Outstanding organizational skills in a complex and dynamic environment
Highly articulate communication skills when describing complex software behavior and function
The ability to coach junior team members
Strong understanding of computing first principles
Demonstrated ability to break apart large and complex problems into smaller parts and delegate
Positive and professional attitude when working to solve customer problems
Duties
Support government labs and aircraft platforms to identify problems, provide solutions and communicate with the software development team
Perform independent investigation to reproduce problems reported in fielded systems
Participate in design reviews and provide input on requirements derivation
Work directly with government personnel and other partners to provide actionable solutions
Work with various industry partner teams to troubleshoot, investigate, and isolate complex problems
Work to continually validate and identify gaps in testing methodology
Configure test bench systems to test software requirements
Provide validation of the findings of root cause analysis and offer solutions
Lead, train, and refine software test events
Prepare field test reports and review and summarize findings
Provide technical guidance to peers
Considerations and Experience
Previous Minotaur experience strongly desired
Software development experience in a Linux environment
Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as Git or IBM Rational Clearcase
Demonstrated strong software troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of DoD mission systems, sensors, and networks
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering or technical field
Ability to assess and troubleshoot complex problems involving multiple systems
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance is required
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry ~40 lbs
Must be able to maneuver in confined spaces
Must be able to access various government locations, facilities, and vessels
Must have reliable transportation to travel between office and government facilities
