The Girl Scout leadership activities are organized around 3 key leadership areas: Discover, Connect, and Take Action, based on the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
A Day in the Life of a Community Recruitment Specialist The Community Recruitment Specialist is a PRN employee who implements effective marketing and recruiting strategies to increase awareness and participation in Girl Scouting through in‑person presentations. The role leads membership information/registration events at various community locations including community events, schools, faith‑based institutions, and libraries.
Responsibilities
Adult and girl recruitment.
Marketing Girl Scouts and capturing leads.
Hosting engaging Girl Scout activities for girls and their caregivers/parents.
Using proven sales techniques to convert leads in support of council membership goals.
Coordinating collaboratively with council staff and volunteers.
Role Details PRN (as‑needed) position: flexible, on‑call, 1–2 events per week during the active season (February–October). Avg. 5 hours per week, no guaranteed minimum hours. PRN positions do not include benefits such as health insurance or paid time off.
Requirements
Experience in outside sales, recruiting members, retail, or public relations.
Excellent customer service, public speaking, and presentation abilities.
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel).
Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people and communities.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and manage difficult conversations professionally and empathetically.
Associate’s degree or 1–3 years of experience with volunteer recruitment within nonprofit organizations preferred.
Skills
First‑hand knowledge of the Girl Scout program.
Commitment and passion for the Girl Scout mission and ability to promote the mission and vision.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel across all jurisdictions of the Girl Scouts of Utah Council.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness and ability to lead a group event and engage potential members.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast‑paced environment.
Collaborative, transparent, and inclusive work approach.
Highly organized, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
Self‑managed, problem‑solving, and independent.
Detail‑oriented and confidential information protection.
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
Daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, and compliance with council policy for automobile insurance limits and driving record requirements.
