To apply you must provide full employment history and attach high school diploma or transcript, drivers license and SS card. If military, provide DD214.
The HR pre-employment process consists of agility test, written test, interview, polygraph, investigative background, psychological and medical physical.
The employment start date will depend on completion of HR pre-employment process.
Responsibilities
Maintain order and security in the courtroom and immediate premises.
Prepare courtroom for hearings; arrange seating and other physical details; arrange defendants in order of appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the judge.
Deliver court papers from jail to courthouse; transport judge from chambers to courtroom; keep courtroom secure.
Keep watch for any subject who could cause disturbance.
Conduct security checks of courtroom and jury room to prevent weapons; provide safe environment for judges, spectators, prisoners.
Assume responsibility for prisoners transported to and from detention center; assist with paperwork.
Coordinate feeding, sequestering, transportation of jurors; interact with wide range of people.
Qualifications Minimum: high school diploma or GED.
One year full-time POST certified law enforcement and/or correctional institution experience, OR
Successfully completed a basic police academy, OR
Sixty hours college credit in criminal justice, homeland security, fire science or related field, OR
Two years full-time public safety experience as EMT, paramedic or firefighter, OR
Two years active duty military in armed forces with honorable discharge, OR
Five years guard or reserve experience.
Required to pass agility test consisting of obstacle course administered by HR and training divisions.
HCSO HR will schedule date for agility/written test; process takes 2-3 hours.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of various types of individuals brought to courtroom.
Knowledge of principles and practices of criminal justice system.
Knowledge of methodologies used in maintaining order in courtroom.
Skill in maintaining personal and professional standards.
Skill in interacting with individuals acting suspiciously.
Skill in using diplomacy in courtroom setting.
Skill in documenting activities observed while on duty.
Physical Requirements Work with individuals likely to exhibit emotional tendencies toward authority. Drug/alcohol-free environment by pre-employment and random drug testing.
