OSP Engineer (x6)
Location:
100% Remote (CST hours)

$26-$30/hr (Potential flex if needed)

Role Overview
The OSP (Outside Plant) Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper networks.
This role ensures compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications while managing project deliverables from concept through completion.
The OSP Engineer collaborates with internal teams, external contractors, and permitting authorities to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning
Develop detailed OSP designs using AutoCAD and GIS tools.
Conduct route planning, make‑ready analysis, and pole loading calculations.
Prepare construction drawings and specifications for aerial, underground, and buried networks.
Project Coordination
Work with project managers to define scope, budget, and timelines.
Coordinate with permitting agencies and utility companies for approvals.
Perform field surveys or direct survey teams to validate design feasibility.
Quality Control
Review and redline design packages to ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, and client standards.
Provide quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaboration
Interface with construction teams, vendors, and municipalities.
Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving design conflicts.
Mentorship
Support junior engineers and designers through training and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Civil, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years in OSP engineering or telecom infrastructure design.
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and related design tools.
Strong understanding of fiber optic and copper network design principles.
Knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory compliance.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
