Overview The Expanding Legal Services Initiative (ELSI) Staff Attorney provides comprehensive civil legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. Services will include representation in order of protection/restraining order cases and family law cases, including divorce, custody, child support, and legitimation cases.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the ELSI Project Coordinator to develop and create the ELSI Legal Services Program.

Collaborate with OVW training and technical assistance providers, community partners, and Tapestri’s domestic violence program director to develop appropriate policies and procedures for the legal program.

Provide effective legal assistance to immigrant/refugee survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.

Interview victims of abuse in a manner sensitive to the trauma they may have experienced and attuned to honoring their choices.

Maintain a domestic violence family law caseload, including protection orders, divorce matters, custody, legitimation, and/or child support, with brief advice, unbundled services, and full representation in court.

Coordinate service delivery and provide holistic case management and support with Tapestri’s advocacy team.

Build and strengthen existing relationships with community organizations and identify and create new relationships to maximize benefits and services available to clients.

Required Qualifications

Admission to practice law in GA.

Good standing membership in the GA State Bar.

Demonstrated commitment to advancing and defending the rights of immigrants and willingness to support Tapestri’s mission, vision, and values.

Knowledge of family/civil law, including protection orders, custody issues, child support, and divorce matters.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience as a practicing attorney in a nonprofit.

Prior experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.

Salary & Benefits Salary: $75,000 - $85,000/year, depending on qualifications and experience.
