Overview Join one of GDIT’s fastest growing programs! The US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X) is a cutting‑edge program that supports DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the transport backbone supporting the USBICES‑X program.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure the stability and reliability of the USBICES-X transport backbone.
Partner with stakeholders and executives to translate business requirements into technical system goals.
Acquisition & Deployment
Lead the design and engineering of high‑performance network systems, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise compute environments.
Execute complex network development, including hardware selection, system upgrades, and protocol enhancements.
Validate network integrity by developing and conducting rigorous testing phases against user requirements.
Operational Management
Identify and resolve complex network failures using advanced analytical and problem‑solving techniques.
Implement and optimize Data Center and Virtualization solutions that align with modern high‑performance infrastructure standards.
Automate routine network tasks and configurations to minimize human error and increase deployment speed.
Mentor junior staff, providing technical guidance and developing training materials on specialized equipment.
Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends to keep the USBICES-X program at the cutting edge.
Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
5+ years of direct experience implementing and maintaining networks.
BA/BS in CS, IT, or related field (or equivalent).
Juniper JNCIA or equivalent industry‑recognized networking certification.
CCNA.
Expertise in backbone routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS/VPLS).
Expertise configuring/troubleshooting transport‑level encapsulation (DMVPN, GRE, IPsec).
Expertise in path optimization and MTU/MSS troubleshooting within encrypted transport tunnels.
Expertise in network security policy implementation and security device configuration.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven collaboration across teams.
Results‑oriented and autonomous, able to prioritize tasks and maintain network integrity in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Juniper JNCIP, Cisco CCNP, or other relevant professional‑level certifications.
Relevant security certifications such as CISSP or CASP+.
ITIL Foundation certification (v3 or v4).
Experience administering and supporting network access control systems.
Experience with firewalls and rule sets.
Experience with WAN optimization technologies.
Knowledge of enterprise virtualization.
Compensation & Benefits The likely salary range for this position is $110,925 - $150,075.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Travel Required: 25-50%
Telecommuting Options: Onsite
