On Call Program Assistant .

General Summary
On an on‑call basis, responsible to assist with preparation, packaging and delivery of meals, training and scheduling of volunteers, packing, pick‑up and delivery activities and maintenance of accurate records for Meals 4 Kids participants and volunteers. Complete administrative tasks as assigned.

$17.00-$18.00 per hour

On Call Program Assistant Skills, Abilities & Experience:
Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages preferred
Ability to work with and manage volunteers
Strong organizational, record keeping, time management and multi‑tasking skills including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last‑minute changes
Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities
Ability to repetitively move 35lbs; routinely moves cooler and cooler bags from one location to another and from various heights in preparation of and for the completion of meal delivery; ability to ascend stairs and move around on city sidewalks
Ability to quickly learn new computer programs; experience with client data management systems preferred
Vehicle, valid driver license, and insurance required to perform job duties
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Fast paced, with significant people interaction
Frequent driving throughout service area
Frequent navigation of sidewalks, apartment buildings and stairways May be required to move up to 50lbs, 35lbs repetitively and ability to frequently position self to stoop, bend and crouch
Frequent use of knives and cooking utensils, stove, oven and other kitchen equipment
Sitting for short periods of time and typing
Dexterity of hands and fingers required for operation of general office equipment
May be required to work evenings and weekends for special events
Must successfully pass Meals on Wheels People pre‑employment screening

Qualifications Education & Knowledge
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain within two weeks
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation required

Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian, or African languages preferred
Ability to work with and manage volunteers
