What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Oversee and ensure compliance with fiscal requirements for special education programs totaling $487 million
Serve as the primary expert and liaison for financial matters related to IDEA Part B
Develop and provide technical assistance and guidance on financial projections and policy analysis
Collaborate with school districts, stakeholders, and federal entities on special education funding
Provide oversight and recommendations regarding appropriations for special education programs
What is Required (Qualifications):
At least a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester credits in accounting, finance, or economics
Minimum of four years of professional experience equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including two years at the P11 level or one year at the P12 level
Experience in analyzing and evaluating state and federal regulations related to budgets
Proficiency in financial data analysis and report creation
Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Current or past possession of a Michigan teacher's certificate or a comparable credential
Experience in managing projects and financial systems coordination
Certification in Public Accounting (CPA)
Advanced skills in spreadsheet software, particularly Excel
Experience working with special education funding or programs
