The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups, including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fundraising at the University, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.

Overview The Development Assistant (DA) will provide key staff support for donor relations with university benefactors, including but not limited to supporters of the Women & Science initiative (W&S). Reporting to the Senior Director of Women & Science, and as part of a four‑person team, the Development Assistant will assist in all aspects of the giving program, including the annual Spring Lecture and Luncheon fundraiser and other high‑profile cultivation, recognition, and outreach events. Additionally, the Development Assistant will frequently collaborate with other groups in the office.

Responsibilities

Support a front‑line fundraising team in managing a portfolio of 60+ W&S committee a tracking and drafting correspondence, among other duties.

Support W&S and other Development Office colleagues in planning and execution of several events, including preparing reports and related materials, scheduling, coordinating with vendors, tracking gifts, maintaining constituent records in Blackbaud CRM and engaging directly with university donors, laboratories, and other university departments.

Produce and track fundraising solicitations to W&S donors and other prospects, as well as special appeals for support of critical research areas and other university initiatives.

Provide general administrative assistance to the department, performing duties such as responding to emails, answering phone calls, scheduling meetings, updating calendars, and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to multi‑task in a demanding environment.

Ability to work as a member of a highly collaborative office, be responsive to feedback, produce time‑sensitive materials, and handle confidential information.

Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.

Interest in and ability to prepare high‑quality materials for sophisticated audiences.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and understanding of database programs.

Must be available to work occasional early mornings and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with fundraising software/Blackbaud CRM, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and basic coding skills preferred; HTML a plus.

Interest in science is a plus.

Compensation Range: Min USD $48,000.00/Yr. Max USD $55,000.00/Yr.
