Center-Based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Life Skills Autism Academy is looking for exceptional Behavior Technicians! Candidates must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or be willing to complete a 40‑hour training course and sit for their RBT exam within 45 days of employment. Registered Behavior Technicians help the development of children who are on the Autism Spectrum by providing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy, following a behavior intervention plan, under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This therapy is used to increase critical developmental skills such as language and communication, social skills, and school‑readiness behaviors.

Pay Range:

$18 – $24/hr., negotiable based on experience, education, and skills

Center Hours:

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm | Full‑time, center‑based.

Behavior Technician Job Responsibilities

Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural‑environment training.

Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior‑reduction protocols as outlined in the client’s individualized treatment plan built by a BCBA/BC.

Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.

Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the client’s individualized treatment and behavior‑reduction protocols.

Ensure documentation is completed on time and follows established procedures.

Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the BCBA/BC.

Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients and appropriately report all critical incidents and safety concerns.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.

Assist the BCBA/BC in preparation of client materials, behavior‑reduction assessments, and skills acquisition.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

Willingness to participate in the company’s background‑check process if extended an offer.

Minimum of a high‑school diploma or GED.

Reliable transportation, and in some cases proof of driver’s license and valid car insurance.

At least 18 years of age.

Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification and, if needed, a TB test within the past year.

Physical ability to perform the job, including frequent bending and standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and running or moving quickly for safety and protection of children.

Reliability to attend each scheduled therapy appointment.

Professional presentation and conduct at all times.

Patience to help keep clients on task.

Emotional control, even when a client acts out physically or verbally.

Positive attitude and drive to help a child acquire new skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks precisely.

Ability to follow detailed instructions.

Tech‑savvy: ability to record data on a mobile device and navigate digital applications.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Cultural competency, flexibility, and open‑mindedness.

Additional Qualifications (not required)

Experience as a behavioral technician, or in a role working with children with autism or other learning disabilities, teacher’s aid, tutor, CNA, caregiver, or home‑health aide.
