The Worldwide Grocery Category Management team is seeking a talented Senior Category Manager to own the P&L and drive strategic selection decisions across Amazon's Packaged Bakery category. In this role, you will develop and execute comprehensive category growth plans while partnering with internal stakeholders and vendor partners to build assortment strategies that maximize profitability and increase category market share across various Amazon Grocery banners. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence business outcomes through P&L ownership, strategic selection management and vendor partnership development.

As a Senior Category Manager, you will leverage your excellent communication skills and comfort with ambiguity to scale vision across diverse stakeholders. Your ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans will be essential as you drive category performance metrics, make critical selection decisions, and develop innovative approaches to assortment optimization, pricing strategies and promotional activities. You will be accountable for the financial performance of the Packaged Bakery category while building a selection that delights customers and drives sustainable growth for our business.

Key job responsibilities

Define the vision and business strategy for the Packaged Bakery category, including establishing goals and measuring KPIs for results and growth across Amazon Grocery banners.

Manage category P&L performance by developing and executing plans that drive revenue growth and margin improvements across the business.

Partner with Vendor Managers and vendor partners to align on selection strategies and execute category plans, ensuring seamless collaboration to deliver against business objectives while maintaining clear accountability for P&L and selection decisions.

Analyze market trends, competitive landscape and customer insights to identify opportunities for category expansion and selection optimization.

Collaborate cross-functionally with In-Stock, Marketing, Operations, Merchandising and Leadership teams to align on category strategies and drive business financial objectives, ensuring integrated execution across all functions to deliver category goals.

A day in the life

Analyze category performance metrics and develop strategic insights to drive P&L growth for the Packaged Bakery category.

Stay ahead of market trends, competitive dynamics and customer preferences to ensure Amazon delivers the right selection that meets evolving customer needs.

Make critical decisions about which products to add, maintain, or remove from the assortment, ensuring we remain competitive and relevant in the marketplace.

Collaborate with vendor managers and vendor partners to align on assortment strategies and selection decisions that support category objectives.

Prepare business reviews, evaluate ASIN-level performance data, and assess how our selection performs.

Balance strategic planning with tactical execution, using data-driven insights and market intelligence to drive decisions that positively impact profitability and overall customer experience.

About the team The Worldwide Grocery Category Management team is responsible for selection decisions and vendor relationships for grocery category across all Amazon banners. Our team focuses on creating exceptional shopping experiences that transform how customers discover and purchase perishable goods from Amazon. We’re passionate about building compelling assortments, optimizing the customer journey and developing strategic partnerships with vendors to drive category growth.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of experience with Excel

Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience

Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL

Experience with business analysis and P&L management

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using data to influence business decisions

Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

MBA

Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders

Experience presenting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
