Department Overview The Emergency Department at Canyon Vista Medical Center is a 22-bed unit within a Level III Trauma Center. Our team-oriented culture emphasizes collaboration, communication, and excellence in delivering care for urgent and emergent patient needs.
Position Summary The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency department environment. This role involves rapid assessment, clinical decision-making, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
Administer medications, treatments, and collect specimens per physician orders
Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions to the care team and families
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, ambulation, and nutrition
Coordinate patient transfers, discharges, and referrals with interdisciplinary teams
Provide patient and family education based on age, culture, and health status
Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being in all care decisions
Qualifications & Requirements Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
Licensure & Certifications
Current State RN License (required)
BLS, ACLS, PALS, HAZMAT, and Handle with Care – required within 90 days of hire
TNCC – required within one year of hire
Experience
1+ year of Emergency Department or Acute Care nursing experience (preferred)
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Strong patient advocacy and attention to detail
