Job Title: Systems and Facilities Maintainer I (CDL Required)

Position Summary The Systems and Facilities Maintainer I is responsible for performing maintenance and operational tasks related to wastewater systems. This includes operating high-pressure sewer jetting equipment, vacuum trucks, CCTV equipment, compact loader and related tools to clean and maintain pipelines and facilities. The position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate jet/vac trucks , dump truck, TV truck, loader and high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean, clear, and maintain sewer lines.

Drive and maneuver CDL-classified vehicles to and from worksites in compliance with DOT and organizational regulations.

Perform routine inspection and maintenance of wastewater systems, manholes, pump stations, and related infrastructure.

Support confined space entry operations and set up required safety equipment and traffic control devices.

Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment, hoses, pumps, and nozzles; report maintenance needs promptly.

Read and interpret work orders, maps, and system layouts to locate lines and determine service needs.

Complete daily logs, inspection forms, and service documentation accurately.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of assigned tools, vehicles, and facilities.

Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use and established wastewater handling protocols.

Provide support to other maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Fills out complete work orders and field complaint forms as work is finished.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Valid CDL (Class A or B) with an acceptable driving record.

Experience with jet/vac equipment or similar heavy machinery preferred; training may be provided.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

PACP/MACP/LACP NASCO certification a plus.

Experience with GIS software.

NEWEA Class I Collections Wastewater System Operator Certification preferred.

Ability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces.

Basic knowledge of wastewater, stormwater, or utility systems is a plus.

Mechanical aptitude for equipment operation and minor maintenance tasks.

Ability to work collaboratively, follow instructions, and maintain professionalism with staff and the public.

Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and participate in on-call or emergency response as needed.

Physical Requirements Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist, bend, kneel, squat, reach, raise arms overhead, grasp, and perform repetitive hand and fine‑motor tasks. Requires adequate vision and hearing (with or without correction). Over an 8‑hour shift, must move throughout the facility, use stairs, lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist height, climb and work from ladders or scaffolds, enter and exit high‑clearance vehicles, tighten and loosen hardware, carry a 50‑lb toolbox up stairs, work in confined spaces, and use required safety equipment.

Work Environment Field‑based role with regular exposure to loud equipment, wastewater, moving machinery, and outdoor environments. Requires adherence to strict safety practices and use of specialized protective equipment.

Pay: $82,877.00 per year
