POSITION SUMMARY The behavioral health therapist provides direct clinical services to children and families at Affinia Healthcare's Child Development Center. Duties include initial evaluations, psychotherapy and medical staff/agency consultation.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education:

Master's degree in social work or counseling required

Experience:

Two (2) years' experience working in a child - focused treatment setting

Skills and Abilities

Understand social, educational and developmental needs of children and families who are members of underserved communities including knowledge of the effects of structural inequity on health outcomes.

Working knowledge of DSM V diagnoses, particularly the childhood disorders.

Sensitivity to mental health related stigma in all age groups.

Ease in communicating with medical providers and representatives from schools and other community organizations.

Excellent mental health diagnostic and counseling skills.

Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated skill in clinical interviewing, diagnostic evaluations and counseling with children ages 2 years to 18 years of age and their families.

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, patients, and the community.

Ability to treat people from diverse backgrounds.

Awareness of cultural differences and need for creativity in choosing treatment approaches.

Demonstrate a trauma-informed approach to treatment.

Possess initiative, flexibility, and self-motivation.

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Maintain pleasant, open, and helpful demeanor.

Familiarity with and ability to use electronic medical record.

Transportation Requirement:

Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

Must hold an active License in the State of Missouri.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Essential Functions

Complete diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, and provide psychotherapy to Affinia Healthcare clients in the health center.

Collaborates with outside agencies, outpatient programs, and other treatment providers to enhance patient care.

Complete documentation within Affinia Healthcare expectations to enhance communication between team members and understanding of treatment goals and progress.

Adapt treatment approach and frequency of sessions based on ongoing evaluation of child's progress toward goals.

Develop collaborative relationships with staff while respecting patient privacy.

Use evidence-based treatment practices.

Provide tele-health services and consultation as needed and appropriate.

Participate in multidisciplinary peer review with other CDC clinical staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Collaborates with case manager to ensure families' psychosocial needs are addressed through a holistic treatment plan.

Marginal Functions

Participate in meetings as required.

Provide staff development for behavioral health team as needed.

Participate in Affinia Healthcare organizational committees as needed.

Promote Child Development Center within the community as needed.

Assist in integrating the Child Development Center into Affinia Healthcare primary medical and dental care as needed.

Supervises:

Students and volunteers as needed
