Position Summary Working within our flagship health center– El Nuevo San Juan Health Center, we are seeking a Behavioral Health Manager who will manage the operations of our Adult and Children’s Behavioral Health Unit. The role requires the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, oversee the department’s daily operations and use clinical knowledge and judgement when engaging with patients. The BH Manager will provide direction, leadership, and troubleshoot solutions around client engagement and challenging behaviors. The BH Manager will also work closely with El Nuevo San Juan Administration to improve and understand overall operational functions of the site and continually enhance the health and quality of life of our patients.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work and NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

1‑2 years of related experience in a clinic‑based setting, with exposure to supervising other employees and administrative management.

Team‑work driven approach and exemplary communication skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and the clinical prowess to address complex patient needs.

Empathy, kindness, and patience.

Bilingual English/Spanish is required.

Key Duties

Responsible for the overall Behavioral Health Department–Adult/Child Services operations including registration, patient flow, discharge, appointments, and referrals.

Supervise front office and support staff (receptionist, appointment scheduling, outreach).

Provide professional development to front desk staff to strengthen operational skills and patient satisfaction.

Assure appropriate departmental staffing and coverage at all times.

Work closely with the nursing department to oversee Medical Assistants; assure logs, prior authorizations and documentation are completed timely.

Perform payroll/timesheet approval functions for all Behavioral Health Associates.

Conduct onboarding training and new departmental orientation for all new providers/associates.

Facilitate and oversee the referral process of new patients, including coordination to higher level of care and Mental Health Clinics.

Coordinate day‑to‑day management of the department and associates; monitor providers’ templates, scheduling and coverage.

Collect statistical data regarding practice volume and provide analysis for increases or decreases, taking action to improve volume under the Department Head’s supervision.

Manage human resources activities: recruiting, hiring, termination, professional development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations.

Provide individual, group, and family therapy as appropriate to patient needs.

Ensure clinical documentation is completed timely and meets internal and external requirements; participate in quality improvement efforts and peer review.

Provide clinical supervision or support when the Child/Adult supervisor is unavailable, including crisis intervention.

Serve as liaison with other health center departments and collaborate with directors and managers organization‑wide, especially in School Health and Article 31 settings.

Coordinate with the Social Service Department during crisis events.

Work with Directors to create infrastructure that promotes team‑based care and medical integration.

Execute tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs and assigning resources to achieve goals.

Participate in departmental meetings, ENSJ coordinator/team meetings, daily huddles, and collaborate with senior administrators.

Organize or participate in outreach activities, including communications, training, and event promotion.

Starting Compensation Minimum: $100,000 annually; Maximum: $120,000 annually, contingent on experience level and management expertise.

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule Position is onsite and stationed in the Bronx, NY. Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (some on‑call Saturday coverage only as needed).
