Position Overview
Unit: 5265-5198 - Operating Room
Travel Experience Required: Yes
Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Operating Room
Shift: Day 3x12‑Hour (06:45 - 19:15)
Block Schedules: Yes
Previous Charge Experience: Required
Years of Experience: 1 year(s)
Certifications
Required: ACLS, BLS
Preferred: Skills include thoracic surgeries, general surgeries, and orthopedic procedures.
Core Skills
Thoracic: Lobe resection, lung resection‑thoracotomy, thoracotomy.
General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic assisted procedures, thyroidectomy (partial/total).
Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, closed/open reduction of fractures, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement.
Urology: Cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy.
Essential Responsibilities
Emergency management including fire safety.
Handling of equipment, instrumentation, and supplies such as cell saver.
Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed.
Administer blood & blood products, manage specimens, and adhere to universal protocol procedures.
Participate actively in patient care for adolescents, adults, and pediatrics.
Work Schedule Details
Float Requirement: Yes (must perform in all specialties)
Call Requirement: Yes (approx. 1 shift every 2 weeks)
Weekend Shifts: Not regularly scheduled, only as needed.
Pre‑Approved Time Off: 2 Requests
Orientation Hours: 36
Daily Census: 35 cases
Number of Rooms: 8
Interdisciplinary Support Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
Special Procedures/Unit Details Engage in robotic surgeries with advanced equipment including 2 Da Vinci Robots and Stryker Endoscopy systems.
