Physical Therapist — Full Time
Responsibilities Provides shift-to-shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care. Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring, and efficient manner. The care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients. Role models organizational values. Provides real‑time feedback to staff to improve performance. Leads/participates in department process improvement to improve project outcomes. Facilitates employee engagement activities, including professional/shared governance participation.
The Physical Therapist (PT) fulfills the needs of patients, families, and the community by delivering high‑quality physical therapy services in accordance with state licensure laws, American Physical Therapy Association standards of care, facility policies, and regulatory requirements. The PT assumes responsibility and accountability for comprehensive evaluation and goal‑oriented treatment to facilitate maximum level of independence to patients suffering from disability, disease or injury. The PT organizes, conducts, and evaluates medically prescribed physical therapy programs to restore function, prevent disability, and promote optimal recovery following illness, injury, or surgical intervention. The therapist helps patients achieve their maximum functional potential and adapt to limitations while promoting safe reintegration into daily life.
About the Hospital Alan B. Miller Medical Center will open in Spring 2026. The new state‑of‑the‑art hospital will feature 150 private patient rooms, a medical office building, a helistop, and 365,000 square feet of hospital and medical office space. It will offer comprehensive medical services including Emergency Care, Orthopedics and Surgical Services, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Oncology, Cardiovascular and Neurosurgical services. The campus will also host medical office buildings that provide outpatient services.
Travel Requirements Travel is not typically required. On an occasional basis, and based on operational or staffing needs, employees may be asked to provide coverage at other UHS facilities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physical Therapy (Doctorate preferred).
Experience: Minimum 1–3 years experience; 3–5 years preferred.
License & Certification: Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Florida; Current certification of Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals.
Skills: Effective communication (verbal & written); effective interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
