Position Summary
The primary focus of this position will be to teach Snapology programs during February and April Break. You will work Tuesday‑Friday from 8:30 AM‑4:00 PM and payment for the week starts at $600. Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork and problem‑solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for elementary‑aged students, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. Locations We have our programs at our North Chelmsford facility, but we also partner with local community organizations in the area to bring our programs there. Based on your location, you will be assigned to classes in other communities such as Acton, Westford, Littleton, Stow, Lunenburg, or Leominster.
Role & Responsibilities
Lead groups of up to 20‑24 students through curriculum‑guided engineering and/or robotics activities;
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology;
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;
Organize and maintain class materials, ensuring kits are prepared for future sessions;
Communicate professionally with parents and students;
Check‑in with Owner/Program Director as needed.
Qualifications
Criminal and Child Clearances must be current (we can help you with these!)
2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or similar environment
Education degree or teaching experience recommended; teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
All training will be provided, likely on a Saturday morning in January, followed by some opportunities to observe and co‑teach.
You will also co‑teach your first programs with an experienced Snapology staff member. Additional opportunities are available during the school year and summer for interested staff. We run after‑school programs in the area (typically 1.5‑3 hours/day, after school) as well as summer programs (week‑long).
