Job Summary The Masonry Construction Foreman will lead a crew and supervise job sites. The Foreman will plan, coordinate, budget and direct activities pertaining to construction and maintenance. This position will train employees on the safe operation of equipment and enforce company, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The Foreman will participate in the development of construction projects and oversee scheduling and implementation.
Responsibilities
Schedule and supervise the work of the crew.
Inspect all areas for safety compliance and correct any unsafe practices or conditions, and make needed corrections.
Interpret plans for construction projects and adhere to all schedules.
Enforce compliance with company OSHA regulations.
Instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment, tools and jobs techniques and skills.
Inspect and maintain equipment in good working order.
Collect and report employee and equipment time.
Operate equipment as necessary.
Qualifications
Able to lift heavy objects over head repeatedly
Able to work outdoors
Reliable transportation
At least three (3) years of related experience and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience
Experience tying and pouring concrete footings, tending to mason crews, understanding a variety of masonry walls
Experience operating heavy equipment - e.g. backhoe, trencher, trackhoe, dozer
Must be able to lead crews effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and translate construction plans

Compensation: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
What Would I Do? As a skilled mason, the contributions you make will last for generations. Masons work with brick, concrete block, stone, glass block, architectural precast and more. Work can be simple as building a wall or as complex as installing an ornate exterior, constructing a school or hospital. As with many construction trades, masonry work is done outdoors.
The work is very physical, involving the use of hand tools, power tools and material-moving equipment. Every brick and block must be laid by hand and requires the skill of a craftsman - a true artist. A skilled mason knows the different patterns, textures and colors that create an attractive finished product. Masons must also be able to read blueprints, understand building codes and be knowledgeable of industry safety guidelines and rules for handling hazardous materials. Each job presents new challenges that masons are called upon to address and solve.
