Position Summary The Journeyman Electrician leads turnkey generator installation projects and electrical service work for commercial and industrial customers, delivering high‑quality craftsmanship, code compliance, and customer communication. You’ll mentor apprentices daily, set the tone on NEC best practices, and help grow long‑term service relationships through integrity and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Perform new turnkey generator installations, electrical service calls, and small projects; complete field documentation via company‑issued mobile devices.
Lead and mentor apprentices on safe work practices, workmanship standards, and NEC‑compliant installations.
Communicate professionally with customers; explain scope, status, and maintenance considerations to ensure satisfaction.
Participate in irregular hours work, overtime/weekends, and after‑hours on‑call rotation as scheduled.
Execute work to current NEC (NFPA 70) requirements, especially Chapter 7 articles governing emergency/legally required/optional standby systems.
Follow NFPA 70E electrical safety practices (LOTO, arc‑flash/shock boundaries, PPE) aligned with OSHA standards.
Maintain assigned company truck, fuel/credit cards, phone/iPad, and specialized tools; report maintenance needs and keep inspection/registration current.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician license (TDLR).
Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurable driving record; willingness to complete MVR screening per company policy.
Personal hand tools (basic electrical tools); ability to lift 50 lbs, crawl, and climb ladders.
Strong written/verbal communication and customer‑service orientation.
Willingness to work with new technologies and learn division‑specific methods (e.g., IR scanning/thermography).
Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience leading crews and delivering multi‑phase projects; prior work with generator‑focused contractors is a plus.
Working knowledge of NFPA 110 (Emergency & Standby Power Systems).
Completion of OSHA 10 or 30 Outreach Training.
Job Type Full‑time; Monday–Friday with overtime and weekend availability; participation in after‑hours/on‑call rotation; occasional overnight travel as needed.
