Base Pay Range $70,000.00/hr - $90,000.00/hr
Summary The Chemist will direct, manage and oversee research, product development, quality control, and regulatory requirements for products. They will formulate and develop products using new and existing products, compounds, raw materials, and other materials, reconstructing and deconstructing formulas while planning new product formulations and refining existing ones.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct syntheses and analyses of routine and developmental products under the direction of the Technical Director, commercial team, or other senior leadership.
Perform literature searches and contribute to new product development within the Technology Department.
Contribute to projects as an individual and as part of a team.
Prepare laboratory‑synthesized products for pilot and full‑scale up, taking responsibility from project initiation to plant scale‑up.
Provide technical support and plant support work as needed.
Participate and lead in meetings regarding new product introductions and MOC’s.
Maintain a safe and clean laboratory workspace.
Direct R&D technicians and QC technicians as required.
Prepare pertinent technical documentation as required.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and training.
3+ years of experience in surfactant and polymer synthesis/formulation/structure‑activity in at least two of the following: textiles, HI&I, O&G, adhesives, or coatings.
Excellent computer skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3+ years of experience with analytical equipment such as FTIR, GCMS, HPLC, etc.
Work Environment Work is typically performed in an inside, temperature‑controlled environment, with travel throughout the plant. The job may involve exposure to noise, dust, vapor, and fumes. Personal protective equipment is required, and the company provides safety equipment aligned with OSHA standards. Reasonable accommodation is available for individuals with disabilities.
