Job Overview We are currently hiring for our Aurora, Broomfield and Highlands Ranch locations. This position is eligible for relocation assistance if relocating from 100 miles or greater! Our Respiratory Therapists provide family‑centered care, recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs. They also assume an active role in clinical education of patients, families and staff; and function as a role‑model within respiratory and inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, teamwork, and shared decision‑making to achieve quality patient care.

Respiratory therapists at Children’s Colorado are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. We rely on our RTs to drive innovative care practices and improve outcomes for our patients and families.

Respiratory Therapists on our Anschutz Medical Campus work in our NICU, PICU, CPCU, CICU, Emergency Department and in acute care (post‑surgical unit, rehabilitation unit, hematology/oncology, general care and pulmonary care).

Children’s Colorado offers ample opportunities for professional growth and development. Respiratory therapists can join a core team, such as ECMO, Flight Team, research and more. RTs at Children’s Colorado have also moved into management roles and became educators to train new respiratory therapists in pediatric best practices.

New Graduates: $34.45/hr. (New Pay Rate Effective 01/18/2026)

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy/Care is required at the time of hire. Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy/Care is preferred.

Certification(s):

Credentialed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC within 12 weeks of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.

Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within six months of hire.

Licensure(s):

State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Respiratory Therapist license.

Job Highlights

Develops competencies and trains to function independently in Medical/Surgical Areas.

Utilizes and documents the respiratory process to provide developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence‑based care.

Identifies changes in patient outcomes in the provision of care.

Guides care by clinical care guidelines, policies, and standards of care in at least one patient care unit.

Elicits patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient.

Initiates and coordinates individualized care and education for patients/families across the continuum using an interdisciplinary approach.

Integrates best current evidence with clinical knowledge and patient/family preferences and values for delivery of optimal health care.

Will participate in the Respiratory Fellowship Program (Adult to Peds training) – Will be credited 13 CEUs.

Respiratory Therapist – 1+ Years of Experience Annual Salary Range:

$34.45/hr. to $50.81/hr. (New Pay Range Effective 01/18/2026)

Experience:

Minimum of one year experience delivering respiratory therapy/care.

Certification(s):

Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire if working in Medical/Surgical and/or Emergency Department.

Achievement and maintenance of a National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed as a Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (RRT‑NPS) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) if working in an Ambulatory setting preferred.

Licensure(s):

State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Respiratory Therapist license.

Job Highlights

Assesses and evaluates unit delivery of patient and family centered care, incorporating the respiratory process while providing developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence-based care within a defined clinic environment.

In an Ambulatory setting, performs all Respiratory diagnostics to include but not limited to Pulmonary Function Testing (spirometry, lung volumes, helium-dilution, DLCO), Bronchoprovocation-Exercise Induced and Methacholine Challenges, Impulse oscillometry, Bronchoscopy Assist, Respiratory Education/ care coordination.

Role models and coaches patient and family care needs through assessing changes in patient outcomes/clinic needs in the provision of care, within scope of practice.

Identifies and works to remove barriers in order to promote communication and advocacy of patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient/family learning needs to the interdisciplinary team.

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized care and education for patients/families.

Follows departmental or organizational practices and procedures that support effective teamwork.

Participates in safety and quality of care projects and disseminates and incorporates into team setting.
