Now Hiring: Head Lifeguard (Part Time)
We are seeking two - three Part-Time Head Lifeguards to join our Aquatics team at YWCA Minneapolis.
What You’ll Do As a Head Lifeguard, you will provide day-to-day oversight of the Aquatics area to ensure a high standard of safety and customer service. You’ll support lifeguards and swim instructors, coordinate emergency responses, and help create a welcoming environment for all pool patrons. In addition to your leadership duties, you’ll step in to lifeguard or teach swim lessons as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Address patron concerns and provide frontline customer service
Coordinate emergency response efforts per YWCA’s Emergency Action Plan
Communicate schedule changes and updates to staff and patrons
Ensure lifeguard rotation and break schedules are followed
Adjust water features and programs to suit patron needs
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the Aquatics Area
Track and replenish first aid and safety supplies
Assist with administrative and programming duties as assigned
Provide lifeguard or swim instruction coverage when needed

Team Leadership: Builds trust, motivates staff, and ensures accountability in team settings.
Communication: Clearly and professionally interacts with diverse groups including staff, participants, and patrons.
Problem-Solving: Quickly assesses situations and makes sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency scenarios.
Customer Service: Creates a welcoming, inclusive, and responsive environment for all aquatic participants.
Adaptability: Effectively manages changing priorities and diverse patron needs.
Technical Expertise: Demonstrates proficiency in lifeguarding and swim instruction techniques.
Who You Are You are a confident, experienced aquatic professional with a strong command of lifeguarding and swim instruction. You enjoy leading others, solving problems, and creating safe, inclusive environments. You stay calm under pressure, are highly organized, and have a passion for water safety and community wellness.
