Environmental/Natural Resources Specialist II
Position within the Mississippi State Department of Health, Bureau of Public Water Supply, located at 570 E. Woodrow Wilson, Jackson, MS.
About the Position Review data from water systems for state and federal database uploads; manage Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) compliance; generate and compile electronic reports; follow up on non‑submitted data with letters, calls, and emails; provide technical assistance and training; travel and public speaking may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze water system data for upload to state and federal databases.
Ensure accurate generation and electronic compilation of CCRs.
Track non‑submitted information and contact officials via letters, phone, and email.
Offer guidance and technical assistance to water system officials.
Conduct trainings and presentations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of related experience. Preference for knowledge of State law, State regulations, Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and/or Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Experience with database systems and regulatory/compliance work is preferred.
Other Requirements Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams). Excellent writing and communication skills.
Employment Details Full‑time, time‑limited position (non‑state service NS14) with the MS State Department of Health. Salary range: $40,286.40 – $60,490.03 annually.
