About the Role Thrive Albuquerque is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. About You As a Vet Tech, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life‑changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Responsibilities

Patient Care: direct care of hospitalized patients from emergency, surgery, and internal medicine departments including medication administration, fluid monitoring, and vital parameter monitoring.

Client Interaction: triage incoming emergencies, discharge of outpatient and hospitalized patients, and in‑hospital patient updates.

Anesthesia: monitoring of emergency surgeries and procedures, recovery from anesthesia, and calculating anesthetic drug doses.

Technical Skills: placement of intravenous catheters, medical math, radiography, troubleshooting fluid pumps, obtaining blood samples, and placement of urinary catheters.

Interdepartmental Communication/Teamwork: opportunity to cross‑train within multiple departments, case rounds with specialty doctors and technicians, and regular staff meetings.

Support Veterinarians: ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.

Maintain Medical Records: assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.

Sanitation and Safety: use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.

Mentor Team Members: guidance, mentorship, and support for fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements

At least 2 years of recent experience at a veterinary practice.

Veterinary technician licensure preferred, not required.

Works well with a team.

Experience with animal restraint.

Excellent customer service.

Strong communication skills.
