Long-Term Contract | Potential Conversion to Direct Hire
Location: Sterling Heights, MI or Troy, MI
Schedule: 100% Onsite | First Shift | 9/80 Work Schedule

About the Role We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join a functional engineering team supporting the development, integration, and sustainment of vehicle subsystems and components. This role supports programs across the full product lifecycle—from early concept and technology demonstration through full-scale vehicle production.
You will work within the Mechanisms & Actuation team, which is responsible for systems such as:
Battery integration components
Doors, hatches, latches, and hinges
Driver controls and lighting
Seating systems
You may also support adjacent modules such as stowage, mounting hardware, and protective guards.
Note:
Due to the nature of the work, this position requires up to 100% onsite presence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed mechanical concepts using 3D CAD modeling tools
Ensure designs meet technical, performance, cost, and schedule requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and project stakeholders
Work with drafting personnel to mature concepts to production-ready designs
Release hardware models and drawings in accordance with
ASME Y14.100
Support manufacturing during prototype fabrication and production integration
Assist with testing and verification activities as requiredLead
Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA)
efforts for prototype or production issues
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering
(ABET-accredited)
1-3 years
of experience in a mechanical design engineering role
Proficiency with
NX and/or Creo
for 3D CAD modeling
Experience applying and interpreting
GD&T
Proficient with
Microsoft 365
tools
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed
Willingness to travel up to
20%
to other facilities or military installations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in
defense or aerospace
engineering environments
Experience using
Teamcenter
or similar PLM systems
Active DoD security clearance
(highly preferred)
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Additional Information
Office location will be
Sterling Heights or Troy, MI
This is a
fully onsite
position (not remote or hybrid)
Role may require climbing on/off and working around military vehicles
Must be eligible to obtain a
U.S. security clearance
Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible
